2026–2027 Membership Handbook
All individuals seeking to enroll in the Magpie Lesson Studio program must have a signed copy of this Policies and Procedures document on file at the beginning of each school year or before their first scheduled lesson. This document must be signed by the student, parent, or legal guardian who is at least 19 years of age. This policy ensures that all students and families understand and agree to the studio policies, creating the best possible environment for every student's success.
1. Registration Process
Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Online Registration
Online registrations submitted through our website will be processed by the end of the next business day.
After receiving your registration, we will contact you to answer questions and schedule your first lesson.
Registrations must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 19 years of age.
Phone Registration
If you leave a voicemail, please allow up to 48 hours for a return call.
A voicemail does not reserve a lesson time. Registration is confirmed only after you have spoken with the studio.
2. Location

Lessons are held in the lower level of the home. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for parents and guardians during lessons if they choose to come in.
3. Lesson Times
Students should arrive on time. Lessons will end at the scheduled time even if a student arrives late.
Lessons are offered in 30-minute and 60-minute increments.
Parents or guardians of students under 16 must remain on-site until the instructor is ready to begin the lesson and return approximately 5 minutes before the lesson ends. Instructors teach back-to-back lessons and cannot supervise students before or after their lesson.
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for any damage to studio property if a child under 16 is left unsupervised.
4. Tuition Plans
Monthly Subscription
Express Plan
One 30-minute lesson each week.
Standard Plan
One 60-minute lesson each week.
Current tuition rates are available at magpielessonstudio.com.
An electronic payment method is required before lessons begin.
5. Tuition Rates and Fees
A one-time registration fee of $30 is due for each new family. Families enrolling multiple students pay only one registration fee.
Tuition rates are subject to change. Any changes will be communicated before the next billing cycle.
6. Billing and Payments
Magpie Lesson Studio uses a pre-billing system.
Tuition is automatically charged before lessons occur.
Families may choose at registration to have their card on file charged on either the 1st or the 15th of each month.
Tuition is automatically charged to the payment method on file.
Tuition is prorated for students who begin lessons mid-month.
Five-week months are included at no additional charge. If a student misses the fifth lesson, refunds, credits, or make-up lessons are not available.
Tuition reserves your weekly lesson time regardless of attendance.
Invoices unpaid after 30 days will incur a $25 late fee.
Lessons may be suspended if payment is not received.
7. Payment Policies
An electronic payment method is required for enrollment.
Payment information may be updated by contacting the studio.

8. Instructor and Student Absences
We understand that unexpected situations arise. We ask that families provide at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible.
Missed lessons remain billable.
Makeup lessons are offered only as instructor availability permits.
Student Absence
If a student misses a lesson, refunds or credits are not available. A makeup lesson may be offered within one week if scheduling allows.
Families planning extended absences should contact the studio. Subscription holds longer than two weeks may result in losing the reserved lesson time.
Instructor Absence
If the instructor cancels a lesson and cannot offer a make-up lesson families may choose:
A refund for the canceled lesson(s)
A credit toward the next month's tuition.
Refunds typically appear within five business days.
9. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Schedule changes should be discussed directly with the instructor.
10. Makeup Lessons
Makeup lessons are offered only when instructor availability allows.
Tuition reserves your instructor's time and studio space each week. Because lesson times are reserved exclusively for each student, missed lessons cannot always be rescheduled.
11. Withdrawal
Students may withdraw from lessons by providing 30 days written notice.
Notice must be submitted by email or other written communication.
Registration fees are non-refundable.
12. Holidays and Weather Closures
Magpie Lesson Studio offers lessons year-round.
The studio follows the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Calendar for scheduled school breaks and weather-related closures.
The studio is closed for:
New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Break
Christmas Break
If Papillion La Vista Community Schools close due to severe weather, in-person lessons will also be canceled.
When possible, virtual lessons may be offered instead.
Weather updates and studio announcements will be shared through the studio's social media pages or by direct communication.
13. Practice Expectations
Students are encouraged to practice every day, even if only for a few minutes. Consistent practice is the key to meaningful progress.
14. Recitals and Student Showcases
Student recitals and showcases are offered at the instructor's discretion. Families interested in participating are encouraged to speak with their instructor.
15. Behavior Expectations
Students are expected to treat instructors, fellow students, and studio property with respect.
If behavior interferes with instruction:
Parents will be notified.
A probationary period may be implemented.
Lessons may be suspended without refund if behavior does not improve.
Families are financially responsible for damage to studio property caused by students.
16. Parking
Families are welcome to park on the far right side of the driveway.
Please avoid blocking vehicles or neighboring driveways. We appreciate everyone's help in being courteous to our neighbors.
